Political Pulse: Advocis Joins Coalition against Federal Tax Changes to Private Corporations

Advocis has joined with over 40 other professional and business associations in strongly opposing the federal government’s planned taxation changes to private corporations. These changes include modifications to income sprinkling, passive income in a personal corporation, and converting income into capital gains.

The Coalition for Small Business Tax Fairness strongly believes these proposed changes will have negative impacts on the ability of independent businesses, including financial advisors, to survive in challenging times. These proposed changes will impede finance growth, innovation and job creation, as well as discourage future entrepreneurs.

The Coalition sent a letter to the Minister of Finance, asking him to take these proposals off the table. Letter: http://www.cfib-fcei.ca/cfib-documents/5646.pdf

Our President and CEO, Greg Pollock appeared on Business News Network last week to discuss the negative impact of these proposals.

Advocis also participated in the STEP Canada Symposium on these tax changes and sent a strong message to the Federal Government that this is the wrong way to go.

Advocis will continue to work on behalf of its members, to ensure the government fully understands the unintended consequences that will result if these tax changes are made.
